On Saturday, 2nd November, Fighting Fitness Judo Pathway Squad, coaches, and parents set off from Woking to participate in the Holland Breda Open.
The trip wasn’t just about competing—it was a chance for the children to grow, learn, and develop essential life skills along the way.
For some of our young athletes, this was their first time travelling abroad, and for others, it was their first competition without their parents by their side.
These experiences foster independence, confidence, and resilience, which are all core values we aim to develop in our judokas, both on and off the mat.
The Breda Open Experience
The Breda Open was held in a fantastic venue with eight mat areas and top-notch organisation.
With over 500 hundred competitors from all over Europe, giving our young fighters the chance to test their skills on an international stage.
We are incredibly proud of how all our competitors fought—showing grit, determination, and great sportsmanship throughout the day.

Creating Champions On and Off The Mats
At Fighting Fitness Judo, we believe that international trips like this one offer more than just sporting challenges.
They allow our young athletes to develop independence, manage their emotions in high-pressure situations, and build camaraderie with their teammates.
For those who travelled without their parents, it was a chance to step up, rely on themselves, and truly grow.
We are already looking ahead to the next big event: the British Schools Area Qualifying Event this Saturday, where we hope to see even more of our athletes showcase their skills and hard work.
Join Us and Experience the Journey
At Fighting Fitness Judo, we aim to offer children not just a great place to learn martial arts, but also opportunities to grow personally.
